SOWING AND HARVESTING MINI AUBERGINES
AT SOWING
Sow indoors from the end of February/beginning of March (when the light returns). Place the briquette in lukewarm water and let it swell. Place on a dish or growing tray. Poke 1-2 seeds about 0.5 cm into the growing briquette with about 0.5-1 cm between them. Cover with the briquette's coconut fibers
Mark Sowing with markers. Specify variety and date.
Cover Cover the seed with a transparent cover with air holes (e.g. plastic film, a recycled plastic bag or a plastic lid with air holes). Tip – use a greenhouse and place a capillary mat in the bottom to provide an even and good water supply. The seeds need heat to germinate. Place on a heated floor, heating mat or in a window above a radiator.
Water regularly with lukewarm water throughout the season – the seeds should always be moist!
1-2 WEEKS AFTER SOWING
Give light. As soon as the seed has germinated and emerged, usually after 5-15 days, it needs a lot of light. Remove the cover and place the pot in a bright and cooler place. Preferably in a sunny window (about 6 hours of sun/day) or under a grow light (about 13-15 hours of light/day).
TRANSPLANTATION
Replant when the plant has 4-6 leaves. Carefully divide the briquette into two parts with 1 plant per part. Water before dividing to reduce the risk of damaging the roots. Plant each part in a pot measuring approximately 10*10 cm, which is filled with nutritious potting soil. Plant at the same depth as the plant was previously. Place on a plate or in a trough. Water thoroughly with lukewarm water.
FINAL PLANTING
Final planting about 3 weeks after transplanting. Fill a pot of about 5-10 liters with nutritious potting soil/vegetable soil and plant the plant in. Water thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Nutrient water with liquid plant nutrients mixed into the water about once every other week.
Pollination. Help with pollination by dabbing with, for example, your finger, a brush or a top from the center of flower to flower.
Support with support stick.
HARVEST FESTIVAL
Harvest and enjoy. About 3-5 months after sowing, you can finally harvest your own eggplants.
