Growing basil
Growing basil seeds is easy. And is there anything more wonderful than a home-grown basil that spreads aroma and flavor in the kitchen?! We usually sow basil in February-March. We sow the seeds tightly in groups in a small pot filled with seed soil and replant them in a larger pot filled with nutritious planting soil when they have their second pair of leaves. To get a bushier plant, we usually top the basil when it is about 10-15 cm, i.e. cut off the top above the second or third pair of leaves. Then it branches there and you get a more compact plant. Basil is heat-loving and nutrient-hungry, so make sure to place it in a sunny place indoors or on the patio and water it every week for maximum harvest.
