Chili is an extremely useful crop that is suitable for many cooking methods. And it is not difficult to grow from seed – the important thing is that you start as early as Jan-Feb to get a harvest in late summer. Chili can be grown in pots so it is also suitable for those who can only grow indoors or on a balcony. There are an incredible number of chilies to choose from – choose varieties with heat that you appreciate.
Cultivation
Chili takes a long time to germinate , so be careful that the seeds do not dry out. Make it a rule to feel the seeds every day – they should be moist, not wet.
Transplantation
Chili is a sun and heat lover , so make sure to place the plant in a protected and warm location with lots of sun.
Other tips and advice
If the seed capsule gets stuck on the first leaves, drip a little water on it until it softens and carefully peel it off by squeezing it.
Fertilize with liquid plant nutrients several times during the season.
Promote pollination by dabbing your finger from the center of the flower to the next flower.
Aphids . Chili can be affected by aphids. Mix 2 tablespoons of soap in 1 liter of water and spray the plant and soil surface thoroughly. Repeat this several times at approximately 1 week intervals.
Ventilate . If you grow in a greenhouse, make sure to ventilate properly on hot days.
