Blood amaranth Hot Bisquit
AMARANTHUS CRUENTUS
DESCRIPTION
Hot Biscuits' golden beige and lush plumes give a modern expression to your bouquet. Amaranths are some of our absolute favorite plants because they are cocky and almost vulgar. With their tall and upright growth habit, they also take over the flowerbed. Easy to grow and beautiful even when dried.
You can buy Hot Bisquit here . It is also part of the Coco Bouquet Collection - a collection for those of you who want to grow this summer's best bouquets.

SOW AND HARVEST AMARANT
Plant location: Cultivated in the open field/rebate or in a pallet collar in a sunny position (6-7 hours of sun/day).
WHEN SOWING
Sow the amaranth indoors in April-May depending on how early you want flowering. Place the briquette in lukewarm water and let it swell. Place on a plate or growing tray. Scrape off about 2 mm of coconut fiber from the briquette and distribute about 5 seeds evenly over the cultivation briquette. Cover the seeds with the coconut fibers.
Mark the seed with marking sticks. Enter variety and date.
Cover the seed with transparent cover with air holes. Tip - use a greenhouse with a plastic lid and place a capillary mat at the bottom which provides an even and good water supply. Place on heating floor or heating mat for extra fast germination.
Water regularly - never let the seed dry out!
1-2 WEEKS AFTER SOWING
Give light . When the seed germinates, usually after 5-10 days, it needs light. Remove the cover and place the seed in a bright and cooler place.
RETRAINING
Replant the plant when it has 4 leaves, then it needs more room for growth. Carefully divide the briquette into two parts with 2 plants per part. Water before dividing to reduce the risk of damaging the tender roots. Plant each part in a pot measuring approx. 10x10 cm, which is filled with nutritious planting soil. Plant at the same depth as the plant stood before. Water with lukewarm water. Here, the plants are then allowed to grow before it is time for transplanting. If the plant's growth has stopped, replanting can already be done when it has 2 leaves.
FINAL PLANTING
Harden off the plant when the risk of frost is over, to acclimate it to the outdoor environment. Start with 1 hour/day and gradually increase the time outside. Avoid direct sunlight which is too strong for the young leaves. After a week or so, it is ready for a permanent life outdoors.
Plant out the plant in its place, for example in a flower bed or pallet collar, with 40 cm between each plant and 50 cm between each row. Plant in well-fertilized soil. Be sure to prop up the tall flower with a support stick so that it comes to its full potential. Amaranths need a lot of water and nutrition to become plump and beautiful. Fertilizer water continuously throughout the season.
HARVEST FESTIVAL
Harvest and enjoy approx. 2-3 months after sowing and you can then enjoy showy bouquets right up until the first frost.
